Alex: Radiation / Half Life

Curated by ACT

The young scholars will evaluate their personal radiation dose. They will develop an understanding of the term radiation and how it relates to everyday life. The will simulate how radioactive material decays and apply the term half-life. Students will use a computer program to see that the half-life for different substances never changes. The young scholars will evaluate nuclear power as a source of energy. This lesson plan was created as a result of the Girls Engaged in Math and Science, GEMS Project funded by the Malone Family Foundation.
