"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder," is a popular phrase in our society. The lesson here puts the phrase to the test as pupils explore what truly is beautiful through a study of some Japanese folk art. A careful examination of the Natsume, Sun and Moon Tea Caddie, and the Ceramic Thick Tea Caddy will guide the discussion. There are lovely photographs embedded in the plan for students to view, and some terrific discussion questions around each of the pieces of art. Learners are challenged to come up with three unexpected items from their homes that are beautiful to them.
