For these, they simply read a number sentence in word form, each of which include an addend with "1 more" to "make" the total, which learners write. Every addend and sum here is single-digit, and the numbers 0-10 are written along the bottom for reference. Use manipulatives to help kinesthetic learners grasp this concept.
