Fifth graders listen to a read aloud of Chapter 3 of "Digging to the Past before embarking on a study of archeology and archaeological digs. They write a front page newspaper article about an ancient artifact that the teacher provides. Finally, they participate in a simulated dig which they write about in their science journals.
