In this lesson plan, 3rd graders first examine images and decide whether they are symmetrical or not. Next, they create individual symmetrical shapes with their bodies and identify the line of symmetry present during these shapes. They then work with others to create symmetrical locomotor movements, which are presented to the class. At the end of the lesson plan, students should be able to identify the defining attributes of symmetrical shapes.
