Give mathematicians some guided practice in calculating mean averages. They use examples as guides before completing four different sections to build on this skill. First, learners determine the mean of eight pairs of whole numbers. Next, they try it with sets of three numbers, some of which are money amounts and include decimals. As an added challenge, scholars are given an average of some numbers and asked to find the other number that would average to the mean. Finally, they examine text scores to determine the student with the highest mean. Be sure to review their processing, especially in the third section.
