China in Revolution 1911-1949 (Part 1/10)

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

"Keep your hair or lose your head" was the cry of Chinese barbers prior to the Revolution. But beneath the traditional appearance, discontent was growing and in 1911 a military revolt overthrew the Emperor. Men cut their queues; however, the cutting of hair was only the beginning of the Revolution. Part one of the ten-part series introduces the unification efforts of Chiang Kai Shek, Sun Yat Sen, and Chou En Lai of the Nationalist Party. This video series would serve high school learners as an introduction to the Chinese Revolution of 1911.
