Comparing Shapes That Represent 3 Digit Numbers

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

Engage your kids visually in number comparison with this shapes activity. They examine 16 sets of shapes with the knowledge that each represents 100 units of that shape. Each set is paired with another, and scholars indicate whether or not the units on the left are greater than, less than, or equal to those on the right. Consider having them write the numbers of units down somewhere and verbalize how they came to this number. Can they figure out that they just add two zeros to the end of the original number?
