Now that geometers know how to solve for square units, can they solve for cubed units? Explore this concept as scholars examine four cubes to solve for volume in each. A detailed example explains this process, but you may consider asking kids to think about it themselves first. If area is measured in square units, what might volume be measured in? Use base 10 blocks and models to help them discover this. In addition to the cubes, learners also multiply to cube six single-digit numbers.
