Concepts

engineering design, fashion design, product design, technology resources

Instructional Ideas

  • Create hand drawings for the shoe design
  • Research shoe design and manufacturing processes

Classroom Considerations

  • Building the prototype requires an extensive list of materials
  • Calculating the impact of the shoe may be difficult for some

Pros

  • Activity is created for groups and is a very collaborative exercise
  • Includes career awareness for those interested in engineering

Cons

  • Using CAD software may not be feasible
  • The prototype may not hold up not because of poor design
