Middle schoolers examine historical information about the development of barbed wire and practice identifying geometric terms. After reading through background information, they participate in several activities that include making calculations for a 10-acre square pasture, examining barbed wire, composing letters to companies that market or design barbed wire, and researching fencing of the West and the feelings and attitudes associated with it.
