  • Challenge learners to research the character the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland to determine where his name comes from (mercury poisoning and the way hats used to be made)
Classroom Considerations

  • Activity is available in Spanish at the resource website, https://www.atsdr.cdc.gov/dontmesswithmercury/students.html
  • Each pupil needs a computer, Internet access, and headphones
  • Suggested duration is two to three class periods, but depending upon presentations, level of classes, and efficiency, the duration may vary
