Very young learners study the ways that oral traditions play such a huge part in the culture of Native Americans. They see how Elders pass along stories to the younger generations. If possible, a tribal Elder comes into the class to share a story. If an Elder isn't available, the learners access a weblink of an Elder sharing a story that is embedded in the instructional activity. After hearing the story in person, or on-line, learners answer questions about what they have heard. The questions are found in worksheets that come with the lesson plan.
