Experiment : Magnetic Field Viewer

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

Iron filings are suspended in a bottle of baby oil and then a magnet is held up to it to bring the magnetic field to view. The remainder of this homemade video gives the instructions for making this 3-D magnetic viewing cell from common household materials. Perhaps you could make this available as an extra credit assignment for upper elementary physicists who are studying magnetism.
