Encourage scholars to better understand and express their feelings with an activity designed to boost self-awareness. Scholars read several statements that challenge them to showcase how their body moves when they feel certain feelings. A short self-reflection concludes the practice and urges pupils to continue focusing on their emotions.

Instructional Ideas

  • Play an upbeat song during the "Shake it off" portion of the activity
  • Post the last three statements on a classroom blog for learners to respond to and reply to at least one peer 
  • Gather an assortment of books that have pictures of children displaying emotions, examine and discuss the illustrations as a class or in small groups
Classroom Considerations

  • Consider those with limited mobility, make sure space allows for all movers to move appropriately 
  • This resource is only available on an unencrypted HTTP website. It should be fine for general use, but don’t use it to share any personally identifiable information
