A food web consists of complex food chains and the more complex the web, the better likelihood of survival. Learners compare and contrast food webs and food chains and discuss concepts like the predator-prey and consumer-producer relationships. In a game of tag, students role play either a predator or consumer and simulate the feeding interactions of freshwater organisms. They are able to make predictions about the roles different organisms play in the food web and how the lowest links can affect the highest ones.
