Students listen to the story Franklin Says I Love You by Paulette Bourgeois in order to discuss the meaning of the story and to focus on the concepts of love, kindness, and giving. For this lesson on manners, students discuss Franklin's actions in the story, and then why saying "I Love You" to someone special is important. As a class, students describe people that they love and why; students then create a gift certificate to present to a family member that they love.
