Astronomers practice downloading data from a high-energy satellite and translate the data into colored or shaded pixels. As a hands-on activity, they use pennies to simulate high-energy satellite data and they convert their penny findings into a matrix in the same way that scientists locate a source emitting gamma-rays. Note that a mentioned video is not available, but there is still plenty of terrific material here.

The new resource preview feature is awesome! It is extremely easy to both find materials and align them with the Common Core Standards. I use those a lot since they are not state-specific, and my lessons must meet the needs of students from different states as well as other countries. You will help me save a lot of planning time!
