How Do You Determine if an Ordered Pair is a Solution to an Equation?

There are several ways to determine if an ordered pair is the solution to a linear equation. The ordered pair can be plugged in to the equation to check if it's a solution. However, in this video the instructor sets up a table and plugs the x-value into the equation to solve for the y-value. Then she makes comparisons of the original ordered pairs and the resulting ordered pairs gotten from the table to determine if the ordered pairs are solutions to the equation.
