How Do You Factor a Polynomial by Guessing and Checking?

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

Use the guess and check method to factor a trinomial. Find the factors of the coefficients, then plug some in and check if they work. If it doesn't work then plug in some different factors or rearrange the factors and check again. You might get lucky and solve it the first time or it might take a couple of tries.
