Students explore immigration in the United States during the early 20th century. Working in groups, they describe the meaning of immigration and identify the reasons why immigrants left their homes to come to the United States. Groups create a map and journal of the fictional experience of an immigrant family including some of the problems immigrants faced on their journey to the U.S. and when they arrived.
