Get to know the ins and outs of the letter w using these strategies combining pronunciation, recognition, letter sound, and word examples. Scholars examine the letter shape and listen to you pronounce the /w/ sound. Use these tips to explain how you do it as they try it on their own. Help scholars brainstorm words that begin with this phoneme and challenge kids to a fast-thinking letter-recognition game. Pupils watch as you point to letters one at a time; if you point to a w they say its sound. For all other letters, they stay silent. The pronunciation guide isn't worth your time for this one, but the letter cards may be helpful.
