Is It A Crime To Be Gay?

Students stage a parliamentary committee hearing in the newly independent Eastern European country of Boldovistan. Role playing characters with differing attitudes towards homosexuality, students testify on legislation to abolish laws making consensual homosexual relations between adults a crime. In the process, they compare the differing points of view, attempt to reach a decision on whether government should regulate persons' private lives, and analyze the consequences of different decisions.

I work with students that range from year 1 to year 12, approx 30 with various Special Needs and ESL. Because of the range in year levels and subjects covered it is impossible to find time to make my own resources for many of the lessons. Lesson Planet has become a reliable source to gain information and ideas.
