Reading literature is one of the best ways for kids to build a strong vocabulary while honing in on their comprehension skills. These vocabulary activities go along with the wonderful book, James and the Giant Peach. The children will create mini visual dictionaries for target words from the book by writing down the word, the dictionary definition, a contextual sentence, and a representational drawing. After that, they can use their words to create a vocabulary board game with the context clues and synonyms or antonyms they discoverd in the dictionary.
