Whereas very few learners study this topic, this lesson plan is written well! An organized and detailed teaching outline explains thinning, clearcutting, seed tree, and shelterwood methods of harvesting timber. Beautiful diagrams can be used to show how to control the fall of a tree, correct undercuts and backcuts, as well as how to limb and buck a log. Future lumberjacks will be prepared! Another use for this lesson would be as a career exploration for high schoolers.
