Budding novelists work on character development by relating to the characters in their stories. They imagine their own hopes and dreams and recall those of characters from books they've read. Learners also consider struggles the characters go through, relating them to the conflict aspect of the plot structure. They apply this brainstorming to their own novels. This is part of a large novel-writing unit, which is why there are references outside the plan. Also, some handouts are not included, so you'll want to pick and choose from this.
