Sorting and Classifying Concrete Objects by Varying Attributes

First graders examine how to sort concrete objects by their attributes. In this sorting instructional activity, 1st graders listen to Gray Rabbit's Odd One Out by Alan Baker, and discuss the actions of the main character. They practice sorting objects by color while working with a partner. They share a sorting web site as a class, reviewing the different ways to sort objects by color, shape, size, and other attributes.

The new resource preview feature is awesome! It is extremely easy to both find materials and align them with the Common Core Standards. I use those a lot since they are not state-specific, and my lessons must meet the needs of students from different states as well as other countries. You will help me save a lot of planning time!
