Instructional Ideas

  • Give groups cards with linear and non-linear expressions written on them and ask learners to sort the cards any way they want and explain their choices
  • Have individuals underline the individual terms in the expression and circle the coefficients
Classroom Considerations

  • The class should have a basic knowledge about the differences of expressions and equations
  • The resource is the second in a series of 33
Pros

  • Scaffolding provides descriptions of vocabulary
  • Closes with a lesson summary of the important concepts
