Students read and spell words using the short letter "I". They become familiar with the letter "I" in spoken words by a meaningful representation and a letter symbol. Students come up with words with the sound and review the tongue twister of "Lizzy the Icky Sticky Piggy". Writing is also part of this instructional activity and focuses on the correct formation of the letter and students have to name pictures on a poster board that all have the short 'I' sound.
