To set up this activity, your class explores Minnesota's nickname as the Land of 10,000 Lakes, and the back of the state quarter that features a Minnesota lake. Young mathematicians compare the number 1 to the number 10,000 with support from the teacher. They use counters to determine greater than and less than among numbers 0 to 10. They complete 3 worksheets to practice counting and comparing pictured sets of quarters.
