Third graders increase their knowledge of how to make change with dollars and cents by correctly identifying coins along with their values and then using coins to make an assigned amount which will be written on envelopes. They then create two lunches that cost $1.25 or less and give the correct change back to another student and be able to express the values of coins and how to make change from a dollar.
