Instructional Ideas

  • After learners share their poems with the class, discuss briefly their use of personification
  • Find a few other poems that effectively use personification to share with your class

Classroom Considerations

  • While not listed specifically as a resource for English language learners, this would work really nicely in an ELD class

Pros

  • Includes a copy of the poem "Bailar" by Carmen Tafolla as well as sample words to use during the brainstorming portion of the lesson
  • Gradually builds an understanding of personification as pupils work toward writing independently
  • Comes with a few sample student poems that you can use as models

Cons

  • None
