Students watch a CPAC broadcast, including the Question Period and discuss the roles of various members.

Tenth graders watch excerpts from a parliamentary session, assume membership in a political party from a fictitious country and conduct a parliamentary session of their own covering a range of topics of current relevance.

Students explore the parts of Canada's federal system of government. They construct a concept web using the terms related to government and the institutions of Canada. They make lists that relate to Canadian and American government.

Students examine the Canadian parliamentary system through the investigation of various learning centers that address the issues using a variety of learning preferences.

Students investigate the details of the October 27, 1999 assassinations in Armenia's Parliament - by developing a series of questions related to the causes of the attack, the effects on national and international scales.

Tenth graders experience first hand the complexity of the political process. They analyze the relationship between party policies and the political spectrum and develop an understanding of how Canada's laws are debated and passed.

Students explore the roles of parliamentarians, witnesses and journalists. They apply the selection criteria used in establishing a parliamentary committee.
