Young scholars brainstorm names of astronauts from NASA space missions. They are explained that the Cold War was not actually a war but pervasive tension that existed between the United States and the Soviet Union for several decades following World War II. Students discuss that NASA was founded in 1958, one year after the Soviets launched Spuntnik1. They work in groups and each group is assigned one of the manned space programs.
