Modernizing a Traditional Irish Folktale

Students write their own folktales based on "Cathal O'Cruachan and the Cowherd." In discussions they examine the animal symbolism in the story, as well as the characters, events, problems, and solution. With partners, they select characters from the Irish folktale and place them in contemporary settings. Once their stories are completed, they present them to elementary students.

Lesson Planet is absolutely amazing! I teach at a school in the Dominican Republic and rely heavily on the internet for resources. Now, I no longer have to sift through the huge amounts of irrelevant information generated by internet search engines - I love being able to find creative lessons and worksheets for my students in a matter of minutes!
