More Harm Than Good?

Young scholars describe the components of a drug-prevention program, explain the place of drug-prevention in raising students and in the school curriculum, and design, plan and implement the Drug Free Kids program.

Middle schoolers review information on drug abuse and types of drugs and then learn about alcohol and other drug abuse in a hands on activity. In addition, they learn about kinds of drugs and the effects of drug abuse on the body.

Learners use skills that are directly related to alcohol, tobacco and other drug choices (e.g., refusal skills, decision making, stress reduction skills)

Students examine the controversies surrounding the use of performance-enhancing supplements in sports by interviewing athletes and writing feature articles that compare the skills required to compete in different sports.
