Multiplying Large Numbers Using the Grid Method

In this math activity, students multiply large numbers using the grid method. Students split the number into hundreds, tens and units. Students draw a grid, multiply, and add. Example: 324x7 = 300x7 plus 20x7 plus 4x7. Students solve 26 problems, some with 2 numbers multiplied by 3 numbers. This does not seem to save time but is another way to multiply and understand place value.
