Nasonia Genetics-A Jewel of a Wasp

Students investigate the inheritance pattern of eye color in Nasonia wasps. In this genetics and inheritance lesson plan, students read about the life cycle of Nasonia wasps and hypothesize about the possibilities of eye color inherited in these wasps. Students cross dark-eyed males with red-eyed females by mating them in test tubes over night. In 14-15 days they observe the offspring for the eye color and analyze the data and write a conclusion.

I subscribed to Lesson Planet after I started teaching science at my district's alternative school. Science isn't my specialty so it has been a real life saver! I am able to find lots resources to enrich my lessons! It's a tremendous time saver too! Why reinvent the wheel?
