Number Family Cards

Sixteen number families test young mathematicians' knowledge of the commutative and associative property of addition. Pupils list four problems—two addition and two subtraction—related to a given set of three numbers.

  • Print and laminate cards for continued use
  • Have cards and worksheets readily available for early finishers to work on when their a task is complete
  • Cut cards and worksheet into single-use practice; have pupils randomly draw a number family card, complete the worksheet square, and then share their solutions with their peers
