Students begin this instructional activity by charting information about the relationship between the Spanish missionaries and Native Americans at a California mission. Then, students identify the dynamics of those relationships that would have made mission life difficult for the Native Americans. To displa their understanding, students engage in a debate to explore the pros and cons of life at the mission.
