Creating story quilts is a great way to combine art, social studies and literature. Kids select a story, a published one or one of their own, to illustrate, paint on a canvas square, embellish, and mount on a felt backing.

  • Preview the video to determine if a part or the whole video is appropriate for your learning situation
  • Begin by sharing Faith Ringgold's books with your class
  • Provide directions in small, distinct steps and leave a pause between each step so kids can complete the step
