Part-Whole Mats

A part-whole mat is a great way to practice simple addition using math manipulatives. Learners choose a number card and place it at the top of their mat. Using counters, they record the different number pairs which would add together to make this number. A photograph illustrates this concept well, and further teacher's notes give assessment considerations. The worksheet would be great to project and go through one step at a time with learners as they work with partners.
