This instructional activity, based on the animated story "Rocky Rescue" from the PBS KIDS series MOLLY OF DENALI, helps children notice compare and contrast text structure while listening to and reading informational texts. In the video, Molly uses a first aid handbook to determine whether Nina's ankle is sprained or broken after a snowboarding accident. Students learn how text is organized and use similarities and differences to improve their understanding. Then they apply their knowledge of compare and contrast text structure while reading informational texts from a current unit of study. Media and support materials are provided.
