In this video from Tula: The Fire and the Forgotten, historian Hannibal Johnson describes how Greenwood was rebuilt after the 1921 race massacre and reached its peak in the mid 1940s, but ironically began to decline in the 1950s as a result of racial integration efforts and urban renewal projects of the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Support materials include activities for middle and high school and two student handouts. [3:49]
