Instructional Ideas

  • Treat these as the "laws" of your classroom, and design some fun way to identify when a law has been broken (i.e. play the theme from The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly)
  • Track group progress on avoiding these phrases as a class, such as by tallying the number of times a particular rule is broken
  • Give to learners as a reference sheet that they can keep in their notes and refer to throughout the school year

Pros

  • Very attractive design and humorous, yet still very informative, presentation
  • Well-chosen phrases that are heavily overused in writing
  • Ready for print and display

Cons

  • None
