Pythagorean Theorem Word Problems

In this Pythagorean theorem instructional activity, 10th graders solve 10 different word problems that include using the Pythagorean theorem in each. First, they determine the height of an equilateral triangle. Then, students determine the length of the hypotenuse given the lengths of each leg of the triangle. They also determine the diagonal length of a box given its height.
