Raptor Force

High schoolers observe a video about pilots, their desired traits, and explore the similarities between a bird and an airplane. Using paper, wood or foam, they design create an aircraft to be flown in a competition to see which plane will fly the fastest, farthest, glide the longest, or be the most maneuverable. As a class, they discuss Newton's laws of motion. After reading the story of Icarus, students research and write a myth of their own about raptors.
