[Free Registration/Login Required] A three-instructional activity unit on author's purpose. In the first instructional activity, students practice identifying the author's purpose as to entertain, to persuade, or to inform. In the second instructional activity, students use graphic organizers to identify the author's purpose as well as evidence from the text. The third instructional activity teaches students to distinguish the purpose of texts on the same topic that have written by different authors. All texts and student handouts for this instructional activity are available with free login.
