Flotsam by David Wiesner and The Magic School Bus on the Ocean Floor by Joanna Cole, illustrated by Bruce Degen, begin a reading adventure pack focusing on oceans. With story listening and thoughtful discussion, scholars complete several activities. They make a flip-the-flap picture featuring an underwater scene, explore a local body of water to observe animals or items that surround it, look to identify what sinks and floats, create flotsam with a message in a bottle, and dance to ocean-themed music.
