Reading Chemical Formulas

Learners interpret basic chemical formulas. When class begins, students interpret a "chemical formula" for fruit salad. After they interpret the recipe, learners use the same strategies to identify chemical formulas. They evaluate the coefficient and subscript to determine the number of molecules and atoms in each formula. Students use sticky notes as models to write chemical formulas. As independent practice, they write their own lunch recipe using chemical formulas.

Thomas A.
Lesson Planet provides plans that are a snap to personalize or utilize as is. Providing rigor and relevance the lessons are an excellent resource. I highly recommend LP for both the new teacher and the well seasoned pedagogue.
